Opticians' sponsorship is music to orchestra's ears
As part of a Didcot optician’s ongoing commitment to supporting local community initiatives, Didcot Concert Orchestra is set to benefit from a sponsorship for their 2024/25 season.
Specsavers is going to be supporting the not-for-profit which was established in 2018 and holds three classical music concerts a year.
‘We are extremely grateful to Specsavers Didcot for their generosity,’ says Geoff Bushell, conductor and musical director of Didcot Concert Orchestra. ‘The sponsorship for our 2024/25 season will make a real difference. By helping to fund the orchestra, Specsavers Didcot will be benefitting local people, giving them the opportunity to experience performances of high-quality classical orchestral music at an affordable price in the local area.’
‘The orchestra clearly plays an important role locally and so we’re delighted to be able to lend our support,’ says Maria Garcia, store director at Specsavers Didcot. ‘Some of us were able to attend the first concert last month and it was a really lovely evening. We’re looking forward to being able to enjoy more classical music on our doorstep as the season goes on.
‘Having its own symphony orchestra helps to make Didcot a destination for classical music audiences who would otherwise have to travel to Oxford, Reading or London, contributing to Didcot’s growing reputation as a great place to live with its own music and arts scene,’ adds Geoff.
