Optical Team eye up bigger store
The future is in focus for Specsavers Didcot as a significant investment has seen the store undergo a major expansion.
Having first opened its doors 18 years ago with just four staff, today the busy store has a team of 30 colleagues taking care of both optical and audiology customers. Continuing demand led to the expansion, with the store developing its first floor to accommodate more customers.
The expansion means that the store now boasts six optical consulting rooms, one of which is dedicated for audiology appointments, and a contact lens area. Customers also benefit from larger waiting areas.
‘The difference the work has made to the store is amazing and we’re delighted with the final result,’ comments Maria Garcia, store director at Specsavers Didcot. ‘We want to ensure our customers have the best possible experience while they are with us, and also provide our team with a great place to work – I think we’ve ticked those two boxes.’
Brand new state-of-the-art equipment is installed throughout, including an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine. This technology allows the optometrist to take a 3D image of the back of the eye to help diagnose serious eye conditions, including glaucoma, up to four years earlier.
As well as improving the environment for its customers, store directors, Maria and Rukhsana Bi, were keen to ensure that their team benefited from the expansion too. The addition of a large breakout area and updated offices makes the store an even better place to work.
