Didcot helps local allotment & garden association
The team from Specsavers Didcot supported the Wallingford Allotment and Garden Association (WAGS) by sponsoring its Autumn Show.
Staff at the store stepped in to support the community group as part of their ongoing commitment to give something back to the local area.
‘It’s great to be part of the local community, whether that’s supporting our youth football team, the town’s film club, fundraising for local causes and now helping our keen gardeners and growers to bloom,’ commented Adela Garcia, store director.
A note from the organisers
‘I would like to thank you, Specsavers Didcot, for your kind sponsorship of the WAGS Autumn Show this year, your donation really helps us with the costs of staging the show,’ added Sandra Halstead, show secretary, Wallingford Allotment and Garden Association.
‘We were very lucky with the sunny weather, and we had great exhibits in all the classes; there is so much talent in Wallingford, from baking to crafting to photography. And then there were the lovely flower and veg displays.’
This year’s Photography Cup went to joint winners Giles Whitehead and Doreen Thomas. Doreen has been entering and winning the photography section for a great many years, whereas Giles is a relative newcomer. Congratulations to them both, and to all the other successful competitors.
