Specsavers put one foot forward for Guide Dogs

A Didcot opticians is calling for donations to support people with sight loss after two members of its team walked more than 200,000 steps in one week to raise money for Guide Dogs UK.

Specsavers on Orchard Street is still collecting donations for the charity, after store supervisor, Sarah Munns, and receptionist, Gillian Toogood, walked a combined total of 215,953 steps in a week. The duo has already raised £398 and are now hoping to increase this further as part of International Assistance Dog Week (4 – 10 August).

Sarah and Gillian did a great job when they took part in the Walk Your Socks Off Campaign,’ comments Adela Garcia, store director at Specsavers Didcot. ‘We’re now keen to raise more awareness for Guide Dogs as part of International Assistance Dog Week. We’d like to thank everyone who has already donated. It really does make a difference to those living with sight loss.’

Guide Dogs provides life-changing services to support the independence of people living with sight loss. Its ambition is a future where every person with sight loss has the confidence and support they need to live their lives to the full. For more information, please visit www.guidedogs.org.uk
