The first seven shops moving on to the major expansion of the Orchard Centre have been announced as TK Maxx, River Island, H&M, Boots, Nando’s, Starbucks and M&S Food.

Definite opening dates are not yet confirmed but the new stores, which form part of Hammerson’s £50 million expansion of the Didcot shopping centre, are due to start trading next month and many more stores and cafés are expected to move in during the spring.

The expansion follows the signing of a 250 year lease agreement by Hammerson, the landlord, and South Oxfordshire District Council for phase two, which will include new public areas and an additional 191 car parking spaces.

It will help to attract more visitors and potential investors to the town and is a significant milestone for the future growth of Didcot town centre, as part of wider plans to transform Didcot into a Garden Town and deliver 20,000 new jobs and 15,000 new homes over the next 20 years.
